The New Brunswick Association for Community Living (NBACL) is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic individual committed to the vision, values and philosophy of inclusion. The Social Inclusion Coordinator position is part of a Social Inclusion Program for persons with disabilities in New Brunswick. This position will be located in Fredericton and the successful candidate work in the Fredericton region. This is a contract position, 40 hours per week.

The Social Inclusion Coordinator will assist in the development of supported living arrangements including planning, implementation and monitoring of such arrangements. The coordinator will also assist individuals with an intellectual disability to develop opportunities for social inclusion within their communities, including the development of personal support networks.

Responsibilities
  • Assist people with an intellectual disability and their families to plan for the development of supported living arrangements which includes the identification and provision of adequate and affordable housing;
  • Ensure families and friends are involved with planning, development, implementation, monitoring and managing the arrangements for individuals with an intellectual disability, to the extent they are able;
  • Assist individuals to become more involved in their communities by exploring their interests and identifying the appropriate community groups to establish a connection;
  • Assist with hiring, training and on-going supervision of Supported Living Facilitators and Community Facilitators.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in the social sciences or human services and/or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Supervising or overseeing a team of staff members and/or volunteer groups is mandatory;
  • Experience working directly with individuals with a disability and their families is considered a strong asset.
  • Valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle necessary for work related duties and willingness to travel throughout the assigned work area and province;
  • Strong computer skills and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications;
  • Ability to work independently and work flexible hours including evenings or weekends as required;
  • Fluently Bilingual (French and English) is considered an asset.
