The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking an individual to join Buildings Group as a Roof Inspector working in Fredericton.

As a member of the Roof Inspection Program, the successful candidate will be responsible to carry out a variety of activities in the field and office relating to asset management of roofs on government owned buildings. 

These duties include performing visual roof inspections on approximately 200 buildings throughout the province each year, performing thermographic and moisture testing, maintaining a roof condition database, and working with clients to investigate various building envelope problems. The information collected is to be used by the candidate to identify problems and issue contracts to complete repairs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing part time staff to aid in performance of roof inspections. This position will also assist with preparation of drawings and specifications for capital improvement tender packages. 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Engineering and Field Level IV: Diploma from a two (2) year Engineering Technology program with a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible related work experience. A working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite is also required. Candidates must have, or be eligible for, membership in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists. Possession of valid New Brunswick Class 5 driver's license is also required.

If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint at a lower classification.

Engineering and Field Level III: Diploma from a two (2) year or Engineering Technology program with a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible related work experience. ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate knowledge of Health and Safety Procedures, Records and Information Management, Project Management and/or building envelope systems. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

The following operational requirements are also required: travel throughout the province, overnight travel throughout the summer, and variable hours.

SALARY:

Engineering and Field Level IV: $1,585.00 - $1,989.00 bi-weekly.

Engineering and Field Level III: $1,459.00 - $1,832.00 bi-weekly.
