The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the Administrative Services Team as an Administrative Services Officer in the Miramichi region.

As a member of the Administrative Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing a variety of administrative support services to the public and all levels of staff within the office. Responsibilities include providing general information, responding to a wide range of routine and complex telephone inquiries and/or walk-in clients, evaluating inquiries, and directing clients and/or the public to the appropriate employee or resource. Work will also include: filing, photocopying, handling of incoming and outgoing mail, receiving payments, preparation of correspondence, data entry, word processing, and maintaining a supplies inventory. Other duties may be assigned as required. 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED supplemented by successful completion of a one (1) year post-secondary diploma in Secretarial or Office Administration or other post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years related administrative work experience. OR High School Diploma supplemented by completion of at least a two (2) year related post-secondary program and a minimum of two (2) years related work experience. OR High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of four (4) years related administrative work experience.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in an office setting; 
  • Experience working with the general public; and/or
  • Experience working with confidential information.

Subject to the response of this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $38,272 to $46,410 per annum.
