FAMILY GROUP CONFERENCE COORDINATOR
(SOCIAL WORKER 3)
The Department of Social Development is seeking individuals to work as Family Group Conference Coordinators in various locations across the province.
The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and facilitating Family Group and Immediate Response conferences. They will work collaboratively with families and stakeholders to engage them in a process to develop safety and permanency plans for the child or children. The successful candidate will require the ability to work with the client to overcome fears and concerns related to the process, communicate sensitive and complex messages and to explain parameters related to confidentiality. They will also require the ability to handle crisis situations that may arise during a conference. The successful candidate will have a fundamental belief in the values and principles of Family Group Conference which include: the child's safety and well-being is paramount and the responsibility rests primarily with the parents; family is the preferred environment for the care and upbringing of the child; family have the strengths and resources to plan for their children; the Minister is responsible to work collaboratively with the family to support and enhance their capacity to care for their children; and that the child and family are central to all planning and decision making. Other duties may be assigned as required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Social Work with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in child welfare OR a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in child welfare OR currently working as a Social Worker for the Department of Social Development with a Master's Degree and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in child welfare OR currently working as a Social Worker for the Department of Social Development with a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of five (5) years' experience in child welfare
ASSET QUALIFICATION: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate:
- Participated in a family group conference as a social worker or a supervisor.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required for some vacancies while other vacancies require written and spoken competence in English or French. Please state your language capability.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Working evenings, weekends, and variable hours. Applicants must have their own means of transportation as this position offers services to families in various locations of the province and requires frequent travel within the province and occasional travel outside the province.

Salary: $61,048 - $73,034 (As per the current collective agreement an additional 4.8% premium will be paid as applicable).
