The Director, Enterprise Governance & Portfolio Management plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management of Enterprise governance practices and strategic alignment within the organization. By managing and evolving governance frameworks & forums, Office of the CIO, risk management, portfolio management, budgeting, and reporting, this role ensures that strategic initiatives support and drive the achievement of business objectives. Ultimately, the Director's efforts foster cost/benefit/risk driven Business decisions that align Business strategic plan outcomes with initiatives delivering the highest expected value. This leads to improved organizational efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness.

What will you do?

Governance

  • Manage and continually mature EPMO and Office of the CIO practices and processes.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of governance structures to enhance decision-making processes within the EPMO and Office of the CIO.
  • Manage and evolve governance frameworks and forums for project management and IT operations.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.

IT Strategy and Risk

  • Ensure the IT vision is consistently articulated within all material.
  • Oversee all activities and processes relating to the Office of the CIO.
  • Communicate IT strategy in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the integration of IT strategy and risk management into business processes and decision-making.
  • Manage a meaningful IT risk framework and process in collaboration with Enterprise Risk Management

Business Strategy and EPMO Portfolio

  • Define and manage the EPMO Portfolio in alignment with business strategy.
  • Partner with the business to develop initiative roadmaps that will inform the planning cycle and facilitate prioritization.
  • Manage and evolve a robust prioritization process for projects, including the Annual Business Plan Cycle, to foster cost/benefit/risk driven decisions at the Executive level that align with desired Business strategic priorities.
  • Monitor and track the progress of portfolio initiatives, identifying and addressing issues or risks that may impact delivery.

Budget Management

  • Oversee all aspects of Project/portfolio budgets, including inputs, outputs.
  • Manage all components of IT department budgets, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Oversee a robust vendor management process in collaboration with procurement, finance & IT stakeholders, including contract negotiation and performance evaluation, and manage ongoing vendor rationalization in collaboration with Procurement/IT stakeholders ·
  • Optimize resource utilization and cost efficiency across the EPMO and IT department, seeking opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Reporting

  • Manage robust EPMO portfolio and IT operational reporting frameworks.
  • Define and maintain IT operational reporting frameworks as required.
  • Evolve reporting standards across the portfolio of projects with KPIs on delivery and business value achievement.
  • Develop and maintain standardized reporting templates and dashboards for EPMO portfolio and IT operational performance.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to generate insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting on project status, risks, and issues, highlighting key milestones and achievements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize key performance indicators (KPIs) for project delivery and business value realization with a focus on leading and lagging indicators.
  • Continuously assess and improve reporting processes and tools to enhance transparency, accountability, and decision-making effectiveness.

People Leadership

  • Provide effective leadership and mentorship to direct reports and team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth.
  • Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support the professional development of team members to maximize their potential and contribution to the IT and organization's goals

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Business, Project Management, and/or related field of study
  • 15+ Years of experience in project, program and portfolio management methodologies.
  • Experience with IT governance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and practices.
  • Budget management and financial analysis skills.
  • Full proficiency in Governance and Maturity framework development
  • Familiarity with portfolio management tools and software.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Vendor management and contract negotiation expertise.
  • Ability to present ideas to senior leadership and peers to create alignment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to support internal and external teams.
  • Confidence to make independent decisions.
