The work of Good Shepherd is based on a fundamental belief in providing hope and restoring dignity to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. How You Will Make an Impact

  • Support and encourage attendance and participation in programs
  • Participate in programs as a role model, mentor and coach to tenants.
  • Work with recreation supervisor, teams and tenants in program development and implementation
  • Lead recreation programs on-sites, Good Food Box program, trips outings, and volunteer programs.
  • Work with recreation supervisor to identify participant needs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Good Shepherd staff, community mental health agencies and community partners.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • Education and experience in recreation.
  • Experience working in the mental health field
  • Belief in and understanding of Recovery
  • Knowledge of recreation opportunities in Hamilton
  • Experience working both individually and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to encourage and motivate change
  • Creative, innovative, flexible personality with the ability to multi-task.
  • Respectful and compassionate demeanor
  • Must have driver's license and a vehicle available for work
  • Must have CPR and First Aid or willingness to obtain
