Position Summary:
Manages all engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel with particular attention to: safety, security and asset protection. Accountable for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance and energy conservation. Responsible for maintaining regulatory requirements. Assists in leading the emergency response team for all facility issues.
What will you be doing?
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
  • Manages building maintenance, including: equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment and electrical systems
  • Ensures regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards
  • Manages and controls heat, light and power and recommends current best methods for energy conservation and economical facility operations
  • Manages preventive maintenance and repair work orders and monitors timeliness and quality of completion
  • Oversees and directs the maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public space, fitness and pool area, meeting space, breakfast area and property vehicles
  • Develops a long-term plan for preventative maintenance and asset protection and overseeing execution of plan.
  • Develops project plans in accordance with renovation or new construction needs
  • Creates pool safety plan and maintains pool systems to optimal level
  • Contacts contractors for bids and supervising construction to ensure timely completion of projects within budgetary guidelines
  • Builds positive relationships with external contractors and suppliers
  • Ensures fire safety crew has complete understanding of all procedures, equipment and alarms
  • Maintains property life safety systems: firefighting equipment, sprinkler systems & alarm systems
  • Performs property inspections to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in excellent condition
  • In charge of organizing (either internally or externally) all landscaping for both winter and summer seasons to include if necessary snow clearing
  • Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required
  • Recommends and arranges for internal or external work such as: painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment
  • Selects and orders or purchasing new equipment, supplies, and furnishings as required
  • Manages parts and equipment inventory
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations
  • Onboard, train, conduct performance reviews and coach employees throughout the employment relationship
  • Acts on feedback from guest comments and reviews to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Shares plans with property leadership and ensuring corrective action is taken to continuously improve guest satisfaction
  • Adopts brand tools and embraces brand philosophy at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

What are we looking for?
To successfully fill this role, you should demonstrate the following:
  • A minimum of three years' experience in a related maintenance field with demonstrated skills in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and equipment maintenance
  • A post-secondary diploma/technical training or valid tickets in a related field is considered an asset
  • Previous experience in hotel/resort maintenance is considered an asset
  • Valid BC drivers license
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system
  • Strong computer proficiency, primarily in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to troubleshoot and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage and coach peers
  • Pool operator's certification an asset
  • Physical agility, manual dexterity
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move a minimum of 50lbs
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without restriction
