POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager of Financial Reporting is primarily responsible for the preparation of financial statements and notes.

  • Ownership of quarterly and annual MD&A, financial statements, and press releases. Drafts and controls changes and maintains detailed supporting working papers.
  • Assists with the annual budget & periodic forecast cycles. Assists with the strategic and operating plan variance analysis cycles and assists with special projects.
  • Maintains a strong control environment across the organization with emphasis on best practices
  • Maintains and works to enhance system processes that impact the finance department
  • Analyzes current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses, and capital expenditures with emphasis on insight behind results. Able to identify financial opportunities and mitigation of financial leakage
  • Works to improve the operational financial analysis package that is integrated with the financial results package
  • Subject matter expert on enacted and upcoming financial accounting standards (IFRS) and CSA National Instrument standards and other staff notices
  • Acts as a liaison with the company's external auditors
  • Supervises junior finance team and reviews work for accuracy

WHAT YOU BRING!

  • CPA designated
  • 2+ years post-designation of progressive experience in financial reporting related roles in industry. Minimum 1 year of leadership and supervisory experience
  • Experience with public company financial statements, filings, and continuous disclosure requirements
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting including a track record of accountability against targeted results
  • Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, model building, and financial functions). Experience with Sage Intacct is considered an asset
  • Experience and knowledge of the quick service restaurant/food and beverage industry is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to “roll up the sleeves” and work with the team in a hands-on capacity
  • Analytical strengths with practical understanding of business drivers
