Payroll Administrator
The Payroll Administrator will support the execution of biweekly hourly and Salary payroll and processes to support our company practices and to ensure regulatory standards are met. As a member of the HR team, the Payroll Administrator will play a role in supporting the provisions of human resources services, health & Safety, programs, policies, and culture for Blue Giant.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Input and balance payroll data for hourly and salaried employees in the Work Force Now ADP Payroll system.
  • Update and verify time and attendance hours for hourly payroll input.
  • Enter, update, modify, and filling employee records across all platforms.
  • Support the HR Manager in developing pay policies, payroll calendars, process maps and other procedural documentation along with managing the regular preparation of reports.
  • Ensure all legislative requirements regarding fulfilling wage garnishments, assist in preparing T4s, and income reporting have been met both on-going and at year-end.
  • Processing of new hires and internal related paperwork.
  • Compile quarterly production bonus amounts, to be approved by HR Manager & Plant Manager.
  • Respond to employment data and benefits inquiries.
  • Maintain company attendance records.
  • Compile and create reports as required and data audits.
  • Calculating and updating employee payroll input (i.e., taxable benefits/car allowances/garnishment, etc.)
  • Calculate payroll earnings/deductions for manual cheques and entering them on payroll register.
  • Processing YTD adjustments in order to maintain accurate ROE/T4 reports.
  • Process, reconcile, and remit month-end payroll reports (WSIB, RRSP, Union fees, Garnishment, company benefits)
  • Process and reconcile GL reports.
  • Calculate, prepare, and process termination pay, severance pay, vacation pay, ROE, termination of company benefits, etc.
  • Prepare and reconcile year end reports (WSIB, EHT, T4, CPP/EI adjustments)
  • Liaise with internal/external stakeholders and payroll reporting to management.
  • Administer company benefits (enrollment, termination, changes, calculating and updating taxable life, LTD deductions)
  • Maintain confidential information by legal or ethical standards and professionalism to ensure privacy of employee records.
  • Manage risk exposure and maintain a strong control environment around Payroll management.
  • Work closely with the HR Team to provide support on all human resources administration.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Strengths:
  • Minimum of 2 years of Payroll experience
  • Must have a knowledge of Work Force Now ADP Payroll System
  • Knowledge of USA payroll an asset
  • A relevant degree, diploma, or certification in a relevant field (Payroll Compliance Practitioner & Health & Safety OHS, or demonstrated experience)
  • Some experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal rules and legislation
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must have advanced computer skills including proficiency in using MS Office applications.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proven interpersonal, organizational, mathematical, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle strict deadlines and work under pressure with superior attention to detail.
