Junior Electrical Estimator

Nor-Tec Group is a full service electrical contractor. We have been servicing Winnipeg and the far reaches of most of Manitoba for over 35 years. Our experience has been from Institutional projects to Industrial projects to Municipal projects and a variety of Manufacturing Plant projects. We are well versed in servicing all of the electrical needs for a wide variety of clients.

This is an entry level position that would help support the Estimating team with medium to large sized electrical construction projects. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of Electrical building and Municipal codes, Regulations and in-depth familiarity of Tender rules of processes.

Responsibilities of this position would include:

• Participate in site reviews, prepare Project risk assessments, Tender reviews and Tender hand-off.
• Accurately calculate/produce material and quantity take-offs from drawings.
• Oversee price packages with Suppliers, Subcontractors, Engineers regarding Tenders as required.
• Review specifications and design drawings to determine total scope of work to be performed, material requirements and associated costs to be included in the final estimate price.
• Participate in Tender closeouts with the closeout team to meet Tender deadlines.
• Maintaining files of working documents to be used as backups for estimate figures. As well as maintaining current and accurate information on supplier prices, price lists, unit prices and quantity estimates.
• Examining and analyzing estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness of work pricing.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Excellent knowledge of industry products, practices and standards.
• Experience in working with Microsoft Office 365 applications (Microsoft Teams, Planner, Excel, Word, etc).
• Excellent ability to think critically and problem solve.
• Effective communication skills verbal and written.
• Ability to collaborate with others including General Contractors, Estimators and Vendors.

Assets for this position would be:

• Knowledge and experience working with ACCUBID software.
• Knowledge and experience working with BIM software.
• Electrician's journeyman certification.

Conditions of Employment:

• Candidate has Canadian citizenship or has a valid work permit.
