Compensation, benefits, & perquisites:

  • Annual salary: $85,000-89,000 CAD

SilverCrest Metals has an opportunity for Senior Financial Accountant to become a key member of the Finance team. They will be responsible for accounting, financial reporting, and administrative functions.

The Senior Financial Accountant will be a designated accountant whose primary responsibilities will be the preparation and maintenance of accounting records to support periodic financial closes and related consolidated financial reporting; as well as managing existing reporting systems.

We seek a proactive team player with a positive attitude, adept in navigating the intricacies of a dynamic, international mining corporation. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of expertise, experience, and interpersonal finesse essential for excelling in this pivotal role.

This is an in-office position with periodic opportunities to work from home.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly corporate office financial close, including required reconciliations and the review of accounts payable activities.
  • Review regional reporting package and prepare corporate consolidation adjustments for operating and non-operating subsidiaries. You will:
  • Review regional inventory schedule.
  • Review regional property, plant and equipment (“PPE”) schedule.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow schedules.
  • Communicate regularly with regional accounting office.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliation of investment and loan facilities and prepare required elimination entries.
  • Assist with the preparation of the internal monthly financial report and supporting schedules and reconciliations.
  • Prepare supporting notes, schedules and reconciliations for quarterly and annual Financial Statement and MD&A preparation.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide supporting audit documentation for internal controls over financial reporting ("ICFR") in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Sec 404 (“SOX”) while maintaining existing positive auditor working relationships.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff.
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Workiva software.

Other:

  • Perform other accounting, finance, and administrative duties, as required.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a recently designated CPA. They will come from public practice in audit with exposure to mining. Or they would come with from industry with relevant experience (exploration, mining, energy, etc.). They will be a quick study, have strong technical accounting skills, and the desire to work with a small, tight-knit team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Public company experience.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with 2 years of post designation experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Canadian tax and regulatory environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS.
  • Experience with documentation of ICFR in compliance with SOX (e.g., process narratives, flowcharts, risk- assessment workbooks etc.).
  • Experience with consolidation for an international organization.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, with ability to manage and prioritize competing demands.
  • Experience working effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
  • Strong work ethic combined with the desire to have fun.

Desired skills (not required):

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Workiva experience.
  • Spanish language skills (oral & written).
