About the Role

The team comprises 1 Jr Data Analyst, 1 Data Scientist and 1 Sr Data Engineer. In the future, we would like to have at least a couple of people in each role, to share the workload efficiently.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this role are as follows:

  • Clean data and maintain the quality of data so that your interpretations won't be wrong or skewed
  • Interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Work with the relevant stakeholders to prioritize business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Support our users for internal and external reporting systems by providing good documentation on the data governance, data catalogues, implementing features and troubleshooting bugs
  • Collaborate with data engineers and scientists where necessary for streamlined workflows
  • Ensure data operations are compliant with privacy regulations and industry standards
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends, tools and technology within your domain of expertise
  • Innovate by understanding the business and creating data products tailored to the market needs and trends
  • Present data and insights in an easy to understand manner by using data storytelling

Technical tools:

  • Expertise in a visualization tool, preferably Looker (LookerML)
  • creating dashboards and explores, design and develop LookML models
  • Implement persistent derived tables, caching policies, version control, and assess code quality

Qualifications

The role encompasses the following skillset:

  • Ability to work with large amounts of data.
  • Strong expertise in SQL
  • Strong expertise in a data visualization tool, primarily Looker
  • Familiarity with programming languages, like python
  • Descriptive statistics
  • Metrics definition
  • Data visualization
  • Presentation & Storytelling, help non-data experts understand the value opportunity.
  • Strong problem solving and strong analytical skills.
  • Critical thinking and the ability to question assumptions.
  • Ability to adopt a holistic approach to reporting/analytics, ensuring the alignment of insights with customer experience and the perspective of non-technical
  • stakeholders. This involves understanding the broader business context and the implications of the data on end-users and organizational goals.
  • Stakeholder management
  • Understand ETL (and/or ELT) processes.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a diverse workload.
  • Ability and eagerness to mentor team members when needed, enhancing team capabilities and understanding of complex data insights.

Additional Skills:

Knowing the following technologies/skills are a plus:

  • Jupyter notebooks
  • Databricks
  • Looker/LookML or other BI Tools
