About Us:

veritree is an award-winning climate tech start-up based in Vancouver. Launched in 2021, our technology measures and verifies the impact of global restoration efforts from the ground-up. We are a small team on a big mission to plant 1 billion verified trees by 2030 with our community of businesses, planting organisations, and consumers who believe in the transformative power of verified restoration projects to create real and meaningful impact for the planet, nature and people.

Why veritree?

To limit global warming to 1.5°ree;C requires immediate, deep reductions across all sectors and holistic ecosystems restoration and conservation. It is estimated that a total investment in nature of up to US$8.1 trillion by 2050 is required if the world is to meet its climate change and nature targets. Mobilizing and accelerating private finance to restore and protect nature is now mission critical. Yet, climate finance is at an inflection point. While the voluntary carbon market remains the most viable vehicle to fund climate actions at scale, the current market is plagued by widespread, fundamental flaws. The market has been under scrutiny for self-regulation, lack of transparency, over-crediting and lack of ongoing monitoring.

veritree is building the next generation digital platform to accelerate investment in nature-based carbon solutions. veritree's digital measurement, reporting and verification (dMRV) technology enables the tracking of impacts throughout a project lifecycle to provide end-buyers with the confidence that their investment is making a real impact with positive outcomes. Our goal is to transform the way carbon emission reduction and removals as well as holistic impacts are measured, monitored, forecasted, and verified for nature-based carbon solutions.

About The Role:

veritree is now seeking a highly motivated builder to join our team as the Director, Carbon Strategy. This role will help establish and scale veritree's presence within the nature-based carbon space. This candidate will report directly to the CEO and serve as a part of the leadership team, acting as the head of the newly formed Carbon division. This role will be responsible for driving the strategy and execution for veritree's carbon work across a number of key pillars: (1) project origination work both domestically and internationally, (2) consulting on product, platform, and go-to-market strategy as the veritree technology evolves to support the changing needs of carbon project development, and (3) establishing a go-to-market strategy that leverages veritree's rapidly growing customer base and helps provide them with an innovative nature-based carbon product.

This role will be multifaceted and requires a builder that has a very deep understanding of domestic and international carbon markets and can understand signal vs. noise when developing veritree's strategy. The chosen candidate will need to bring together different stakeholders (ie. external developers, financing organizations, consultants, etc.), work with a variety of technical experts and working groups, interface with clients, and ultimately lead the delivery of an industry leading carbon project.

The Director, Carbon Strategy will be responsible for market strategy, building an attractive carbon product, building a motivated team, and ensuring that deadlines are set, milestones are achieved, and deliverables are managed in a dynamic and constantly evolving space - carbon.
