QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a construction-related program; Construction Management
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience as a Construction Superintendent or in a similar role a role in residential, multi-family construction; experience with a developer/builder or general contractor is an asset.
  • Experience in managing construction sites, with a focus on residential construction projects
  • Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • A trade background with progressive experience in general contracting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strategic thinking capability.
  • Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite, with a strong working knowledge of Excel; experience with Procore is an asset.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a desire to add value, thriving in a culture of excellence

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Site Superintendent will play a pivotal role in overseeing and ensuring the successful execution of our construction projects by taking responsibility for the day-to-day on-site operations, coordinating various project elements, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and efficiency among the construction team. This role will report to the Director of Construction.

  • Assisting the Project Managers and the Director of Construction in the preconstruction work, tender summaries, budget building, and scheduling.
  • Developing safety programs and procedures.
  • Collaborating closely with the Project Managers, consultants, trade contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies to develop and execute project plans in line with contract documents.
  • Attending preconstruction meetings and all project-related gatherings with stakeholders.
  • Communicating project progress to all relevant parties as required.
  • Coordinating with trades, equipment, material supply, inspections, and subcontractors.
  • Maintaining strong communication and relationships with owners, subcontractors, contract administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Upholding compliance with safety and work regulation policies for all labor forces, including subcontractors, in collaboration with Health and Safety.
  • Engaging in company and project safety programs and initiatives while ensuring safety requirements are met.
  • Assisting in the initial setup of construction projects by analyzing specifications, drawings, and construction schedules before mobilizing to the project site.
  • Identifying and documenting out-of-scope work or additional tasks not covered under the base contract and communicating these with the Project Manager.
  • Participating in continuous improvement projects as part of our commitment to excellence.
  • Reviewing and maintaining documentation, drawings, completing daily site reports, purchase orders, and project photos.
  • Enforcing subcontractor contracts and identifying discrepancies in scopes of work.
  • Effectively monitoring expenditures, reviewing invoices meticulously, and managing labor and material costs within the project budget and underlying estimate.
  • Managing all required municipal and provincial inspections.
  • Supervising and nurturing site team members through regular feedback, training, and coaching.
  • Ordering materials, equipment, and securing sufficient manpower throughout the project to maintain schedule and productivity.
  • Preparing and maintaining construction schedules, identifying potential issues, interferences, and deviations from the overall schedule, and assisting in resolving conflicts.
  • Assist the Director of Construction and Project Manager with additional tasks as needed.
