Accounting Technician

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Technician is responsible for processing all invoices received for payment and for undertaking the payment of all creditors in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The Accounts Payable Coordinator must have a good understanding of payments, the accounting process, budgeting, and the importance of high-quality data. Highly organized with a high attention to detail, the Accounts Payable Coordinator is vital in meeting month-end deadlines.

Please note, this position is in the office. There is no opportunity to work from home.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Professional and organized.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Accounts Payable.
  • Above average proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable principles.
  • Strong technology skills are an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Match suppliers' invoices to purchase orders and packing slips. Investigate discrepancies in quantities received/pricing and remedy the problems.
  • Organize and process supplier invoices into accounting platform.
  • Monitor invoice approval progress.
  • Reconcile supplier statements monthly and investigate discrepancies.
  • Create payment runs in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Be proficient in ensuring accurate coding to cost centers and/or job numbers.
  • Generate reports detailing accounts payable status, as applicable.
  • Assist with monthly financial statements preparation.
  • Prepare analysis of specific cost categories as required.
  • Process timesheets and assist with bi-weekly payroll.
  • Manage the group health benefits plan.
  • Provide administrative support as required.
