POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the System & Business Analyst Supervisor, the Business Analyst engages internal business units to identify and quantify improvement opportunities with the system, analyze business needs, implement solutions and provide production support for the application. The mandate is to act as the bridge between the business and IT, ensure technology is implemented correctly as per business needs, drive efficient cross departmental process flow, improve both internal and external customer experience and ensure application is running optimally/trouble free.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Actively participate as a member of the Systems & Infrastructure group to understand national and cross-departmental business processes, facilitate cross-functional improvements, assist with prioritization and develop strong relationships with business stakeholders.
  • Using advance SQL skills to complete detailed process analysis; gather data, analyse data, create reports (manual and automated), investigate cause-effect relationships, identify root cause of production issues, summarize analysis and findings, and devise plan of action.
  • Liaise between MPCA internal business users, MPA (US) developers, external business partners to create business requirement documents.
  • Be the application subject matter expert, add value with product knowledge and be the IT advocate for different business areas - act as a resource to help to identify and prioritize projects, define new processes and change requirements and implementing system or business process changes.
  • Produce detailed business specifications and test cases for system changes, translated into technical requirements and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business users and subject matter experts.
  • Analyze Java, Cobol Program sources and SQL
  • Develop and maintain a program of standard work processes and best practices.
  • Provide project status updates and feedback to the business units.
  • Assist with related training initiatives, as required.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • College or University education or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Business Analyst role in a distribution, Supply Chain and Operations industry.
  • Advance skills with SQL select statements, able to write queries and understand SQL Database structures as well as SQL report server.
  • 2-3 advance application support experience in a production environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of business processes and flow in a distribution, Supply Chain and Operations industry.
  • Previous experience as a product manager or product owner consider an asset.
  • Advanced analytical and strong problem solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, Access/Data warehouse, Power Point.
  • Proven leadership in projects, influencing and facilitation skills and business acumen.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple concurrent tasks/projects.
