About the role:

Working in partnership with our client, the Art Director will lead the design team out of Toronto to create impactful brand creative. This is a client-facing hybrid onsite role with minimal travel required and dictated by on-set needs for execution. You will partner daily with regional teammates across project management, copy, and production.

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Art Director is part of the wider North America team serving the US and Canada. This is a global account with studios across the world that operate as part of a global network.

What you will be doing:
  • Create and manage original, persuasive, conceptually compelling work for campaigns, content and experiences with support from the Creative Director
  • Actively support the Creative Director with new business activity, networking and pitching where required
  • Help mentor and inspire junior members of the design team
  • Work alongside on-site and in-house teams to explore ways to open new opportunities and to help our brands understand and develop their creative presence through content
  • Develop creative output that is on-brand, innovative, challenging and attuned to the cultural interests of the audience
  • Help develop content calendars that support and extend marketing initiatives, both short- and long-term, determining which methods and channels will work for each sub-section of the target audience
  • Identify and build relationships with and bring to fruition, collaborative projects with partner platforms, websites, influencers and channels which, can extend the reach of the content and help deliver authentic experiences to the target audience
  • Supervise the teams to be an arbiter of best practices in terms of messaging, strategic targeting and style
  • Work with the data and analytics teams to gauge content effectiveness and make recommendations based on those results
  • Collaborate with a team of 5-10 and manage a direct report
  • Work across various brands within the wine and spirits portfolio
What you need to be great in this role:
  • 7 years of relevant experience in digital, print, motion graphics, web design, UX/UI, artwork and production
  • Experience in CPG (Alcoholic Beverages) preferred
  • Experience working within a portfolio of brands
  • Expert knowledge in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Excellent portfolio of work that demonstrates high quality art direction and design within a variety of marketing campaign and platform projects
  • Strong layout and design skills across print and digital
  • Experience in liaising directly with the client and the ability to build strong relationships
  • Experience with strategic brainstorming, creative brief development and creative execution
  • Experience meeting clients and presenting your work
  • Ability to think creatively and justify concepts to clients and team members
  • A developed and working awareness of all major content platforms and channels and a view on new platforms
  • A helicopter view of the content world as well as emerging trends in social media communication
  • Ability to follow projects from ideation to completion inclusive of advising on platform best practices and proper formatting and preparing of outputs per industry standards
