Position: Facility Maintenance Supervisor (Full Time)

Facility: Ripley's Aquarium of Canada

Reports to: Senior Manager of Facilities and Building Operations

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Senior Manager of Facility and Building Operations, the Supervisor of Facility Maintenance will work closely with the Team to ensure all systems, equipment and the entire facility is well maintained and operating at its highest standards. The Supervisor will be involved with the day-to day operation and maintenance of the facility including repairs, both the interior and exterior upkeep of the building and enhancing our guest experience. The Facility Maintenance Supervisor will also assist with scheduling, inventories, purchasing and data retention.

Please remember that due to the nature of our business, we work when others play in an attraction that is open 365 days of the year! You will be expected to be regularly available to work any shift during, before or after these hours of operation.

Critical Accountabilities:

  • Fix minor plumbing issues such as repairing leaky faucets, unclogging drains, plunging toilets, cleaning up leaks, spills, backups of all varieties
  • Complete miscellaneous repairs such as tightening loose toilets seats, replacing faucets, sensors, sensors and batteries, changing light bulbs, patching holes in walls, sanding and painting, carpet replacement
  • Be responsible for preventative maintenance duties such as data collection, visual inspection, inventory counts, tool maintenance (cleaning and lubrication)
  • Maintaining and cleaning all areas of the facility both front of house and back of house, storage and inventory rooms, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms
  • Follow and adhere to all Company safety and security protocols and procedures, report any maintenance issues, safety concerns and complete safety training and certifications
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance is always clean and professional and maintain confidentiality with any proprietary information regarding Ripley's Aquarium of Canada
  • Develop and maintain rapport with other departments and team members.
  • Respond and address other departmental issues.
  • Be able to reach overhead and below the knees to move, carry, lift items up to 50 lbs. and assist fellow team members in doing the same up to 100 lbs.
  • Ensure that our level of Guest Satisfaction is at the highest level and do what is required to achieve that through the above-mentioned tasks
  • Have excellent communication and written skills
  • Be able to lead a team / work within a team and work independently
  • Assist your Manager with tasks such as scheduling, purchasing and availability to be on call
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as requested by your Manager.

Special Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of hand/power tools
  • Must be willing/able to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings and holidays
  • 1-2 years of general mechanical/technical experience is an asset
  • General contracting duties is an asset
