About the Opportunity

Reporting to UJA's Vice President, Countering Antisemitism and Hate, the Director, Campus Engagement will lead UJA's work to fight the rise and spread of antisemitism on post-secondary campuses. We are seeking a talented, dynamic leader with an understanding of both the post-secondary environment in Ontario as well as the political and social dynamics governing the rise in antisemitism that has occurred post October 7th. The Director, Campus Engagement will enable and empower activists to combat the growing acceptance of antisemitic hatred at post-secondary institutions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the implementation of UJA's strategy to combat the rise of antisemitism on post-secondary campuses, including the development and implementations of tactical interventions to achieve the objectives and goals that have been set by the Board of Directors
  • Manage a committee of volunteer lay leaders who are charged with oversight over the execution of tactical interventions on campus
  • Work with partners like Hillel Ontario and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs on the deployment of tactical interventions
  • Gather information about the unique ways in which issues are manifesting on post-secondary campuses
  • As team grows, this role will be responsible to recruit, motivate, develop and retain talent to deliver impactful results; champion a flexible, agile and inclusive work environment, prioritizing health and well-being of team
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public affairs, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in government, public affairs, public policy or related fields
  • Previous experience managing and developing talent; passionate about helping people learn and grow
  • Experience working in public policy in the post-secondary space is an asset
  • A strong writer and communicator who can engage with internal and external partners comfortably
  • Management experience is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to operate within a flexible, agile, and inclusive work environment
  • Ability to think strategically and critically
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be proactive and prioritize in light of shifting needs and developments
  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with non-profits, non-profit management, the Toronto Jewish community and/or experience in Jewish Communal Service considered an asset

This is a full-time permanent position. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
