The Fuel/Lube Truck Operator is a vital position for MacKay Contracting Ltd. to ensure equipment and jobsites are prepped and ready for Project commencement, and then maintained for cleanliness and safety throughout the duration of the Project which will ensure the smooth, efficient and timely operation of the Project crews' daily activities. This also leads to affirming that MacKay Contracting delivers the highest quality product and service, and our ability to exceed customers' expectations and improve our safety profile.

Location & Hours:

This role will be located in the Sparwood, B.C. area with operations running 24/7 and possibly having both day and night shifts. This role operates on a variety of work schedules depending on the needs of the Projects, with rotational shifts anywhere from 8–12-hour days. Overtime is paid after eight (8) hours per day or 40 hours per week. Experienced applicants residing in the surrounding areas will be given preference due to the location of this project.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Clean mobile equipment in preparation for the maintenance team in a safe and timely manner
  • Fuel, lube and grease fuel/lube truck and field equipment
  • Perform basic service on equipment (ie. oil change, filters, etc.)
  • Ability to operate and work safely in crowded, fast-paced working environments, and exercise extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety
  • Lubricate running gears or moving parts of trucks and heavy equipment
  • Grease booms, pulleys, buckets and other components of heavy equipment
  • Provide on-site services
  • Maintain accurate records of the services performed on each piece of equipment
  • Communicate and work closely with members of the Maintenance crew as required
  • Participate in all team and safety meetings
  • Adhere to all MacKay Contracting safety practices and policies
  • Daily completion and submission of daily timecards and FLHA report/forms
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Class 3 or 1 (or equivalent) driver's licence with air endorsement, and a clean driver's abstract
  • Be safety conscious and extremely comfortable driving in all types of inclement weather to get to and from worksites or point of company-based transportation
  • Previous experience in a labourer or similar role
  • Previous experience working in a maintenance, welding, or mechanical environment is preferred
  • Superior communication skills and ability to follow directions; either by radio, spoken word or by hand signals
  • Able to adjust actions in relation to others' actions and give full attention to what others are saying
  • Position requires a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and a positive attitude
  • Must be in good health and physical condition to handle up to 23kg/50lbs and perform duties assigned
  • Dependable, hard-working, self-starter with willingness to learn and adaptable to an ever-changing environment
  • Able to work independently and perform tasks with minimal supervision
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to learn from others and adopt best practices while maintaining a strong focus on safety, integrity, and reliability
  • First Aid/Mine Rescue Training is considered an asset
  • Air Brakes training is considered an asset
  • TDG certification is required and must be completed upon hire for company-specific certification
  • Must be able to work on all Teck mine sites; upon hire mandatory completion of client's orientation modules
  • Must be minimum 19 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test
