Micon is a highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering company with service capabilities covering the following areas: geology, mining, metallurgy, mineral economics and environmental and social studies in the mining, minerals processing and financial sectors.

We are currently seeking an Underground Mining Engineer to provide unparalleled consulting services to our clients. You will apply your expert Mining Engineering experience to a variety of underground engineering projects, working alongside our international multi-disciplinary team of technical experts.

Reporting to the president, you will be performing a range of duties, including but not limited to:

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a high level of service to existing and new clients.
  • Writing and reviewing technical engineering reports, such as 43-101 or similar either on your own or as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
  • Providing technical expertise and engineering inputs into mining studies (PEA, PFS & FS).
  • Conducting due diligence reviews of projects for existing and new clients.
  • Conducting mine planning, optimization projects and mine economics modelling.
  • Providing technical solutions and expertise in underground mining, with a strong focus on quality, safety and risk mitigation.
  • Participating in project site visits, where deemed appropriate.
  • Leading and managing project objectives and schedules as established by the Employer.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Minimum 5 years of operational or project related mining experience
  • Proficiency in Mine Planning software is required (Minesite, or Datamine preferred)
  • Eng or equivalent and must be experienced as a Qualified Person (QP) under N143-101 regulations.
  • Experience as a member or leader of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong English language writing, editing, and proofreading skills, including business writing.
  • Strong organizational / time management skills with an ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively balance priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel to remote sites, either individually or as part of a team, as required, possessing a valid passport.
  • Residing in Canada and eligible to work from our Toronto office without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Assets:
    • Working knowledge of French, Spanish or other second language is beneficial.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, specifically SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
