Contract: Project Controller / Assistant Project Manager – Carbon Capture and Storage

About Us:

Vault 44.01 (“Vault”) is a leading carbon capture & storage (“CCS”) developer focused on the development, capitalization, and operation of carbon storage assets throughout North America. Vault's team brings over 40 years of direct carbon sequestration experience, with involvement in the development of carbon storage projects across North America since 2007, including three of the four currently operating saline aquifer carbon storage projects in North America as well as many others.

Vault's capabilities span feasibility, design, permitting, stakeholder engagement, land leasing and acquisition, facility construction, and operations. In collaboration with our industrial partners, we are currently developing projects in the US Midwest, US Southeast and Canada ranging from single CO2 source, on-site sequestration projects through to the origination and development of large multi-source CO2 sequestration hubs.

Last year, Vault announced the closing of a capital commitment from Grey Rock Investment Partners - a Dallas, TX based private equity company.

Opportunity:

Vault is currently seeking to add a Project Controller position with project controls experience to support the development of CCS projects within Vault's development portfolio. As a key member of the team, the Project Controller will provide support to Vault's project development team with budget/schedule reporting, supply chain/vendor management, and overall execution of projects.

Description of role:

Support the development of carbon capture and storage projects:

  • Centralized support for cost and schedule management and reporting
  • Proactive identification of deviations from plan and recommend solutions
  • Analysis of past project performance to improve forecasting
  • Standardize and maintain project management system
  • Assist with negotiating purchase agreements and ensuring invoice adherence
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to evaluate and execute projects
  • Apply technical and project management experience to evaluate project alternatives
  • Support management of external resources supporting project requirements

Skills and qualifications:

  • Preferred post-secondary education in engineering or business with 5 to 12+ years of relevant experience in project management in the oil and gas and/or carbon capture and storage industry
    • Minimum 5 years experience working in North America
    • Experience with carbon sequestration or enhanced oil recovery is an asset
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
  • Excellent time management and ability to multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and Office 365 package (skilled in Excel and PowerPoint)

Employment, Wage, and Benefit details:

  • Contract position (term negotiable)
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada
  • This position is preferentially based in our Calgary office or hybrid depending on candidate's location
  • Hourly range is CA$75 to CA$95 / hour depending on ability and experience
