Reliability Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare maintenance scopes of work for the repair, alteration, and/or replacement-in-kind of refinery equipment.
  • Strong Knowledge and experience in Rotating Equipment.
  • Perform field walkdowns and collaborate with maintenance and operations personnel to develop repair plans.
  • Lead and coordinate multi-discipline repair plans, failure investigations, fitness for service assessments, and reliability programs.
  • Ensure all work scopes and engineered solutions can be implemented safely and will perform in a safe manner
  • Pursue root causes of equipment damage and/or failures and drive permanent solutions to avoid repeat.
  • Design solutions for chronic equipment performance issues.
  • Perform all work in compliance with client standards, programs, and procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement of asset strategies, asset performance, maintenance procedures, and reliability programs.
  • Provide assistance to maintenance technicians in troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Repair, modification, and/or replacement in kind of piping, valves, and mechanical equipment (fin fans, shell and tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, filters, etc.).
  • Prepare equipment inspection and/or preventative maintenance scopes

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (B.Eng) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 5-15 years of experience in oil & gas industry – preferably in Oilsands and/or refineries.
  • Field Experience.
  • Knowledge of the following standards:
    • ASME B31.1 & B31.3
    • ASME Sec VIII
    • API 510, 570, 571, 579, 580, 581
  • Knowledge of maintenance and turnaround practices an asset.
  • Knowledge of reliability principles (i.e. asset management, asset criticality, inspection programs, piping inspection methods, fitness for service, damage mechanisms).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is an asset)
  • Working knowledge of the following is an asset.
    • SAP
    • AutoCAD
  • Demonstrate exceptional critical thinking skills with an ability to identify and anticipate potential risks.
  • Ability to work autonomously yet collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Shows initiative and drives cost effective and timely results.
  • Candidates from other provinces may be considered, but must be open to travel and relocation.
