We are presently seeking a Lab Assistant for our Mississauga facility. The chosen candidates will provide support to our client during a 4-week vacation coverage period, with potential for extension. If you possess a pharmaceutical degree and background, this opportunity is tailored for you!Additional: Please note these positions is vacation coverage for 3-4 weeks that may potentially become something longer (note this is not guaranteed) however for the right individual there is potential!Pay: $20.00 to $21.00 per hour Shift: Days 8:00am – 4:30pmStart Date: ASAPDuties:
  • Weigh raw materials and API in GMP and non-GMP areas.
  • Dispose of expired materials, reagents, solvents, and lab waste properly and recycle empty bottles according to health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Learn and conduct daily calibration for balances and pH meters.
  • Perform laboratory cleaning and minor maintenance routinely.
  • Maintain clean and organized laboratory and supply storage areas according to SOPs including but not limited to: Wash, dry, and store glassware.
  • Assist Project Leaders as the customer point of contact and facilitate necessary internal actions.
  • Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, contact external vendors for service as required.
  • Handle purchasing for the entire PDS.
  • Maintain lab supplies and replenish as needed.
  • Perform monthly safety checks and represent PDS in the safety committee.
  • Maintain controlled samples log, dispose of control samples, and provide annual report on control samples inventory.
  • Transport materials between campuses.
  • Work in a lab environment, involving reaching/bending, lifting (45 to 50 lbs flexibility in hours, manual handling of heavy cases and drums, use of manual pump truck and hand truck, and potential confined space entry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Preferably a college diploma in Chemistry or related field or minimum of 9-12 months of experience working in a lab.
  • Above average knowledge of MS Office specifically Excel
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal
  • Capable of adapting, respond quickly and manage change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of PDS, SOP, GMP, Chemistry and Mathematics is mandatory.
  • Ability to lift 45 to 50 lbs
