POSITION SUMMARY:
Join our team as a Promotions Ambassador at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) and play a pivotal role in representing the museum with enthusiasm and professionalism. In this role, you will engage directly with the public, both at the ROM and offsite, to promote our unique collections and special exhibitions, with the goal of increasing visitor numbers and memberships. You'll offer customized guided experiences to a wide array of clients, including those in Promotions, Tourism, and Group Sales, as well as ROM Members. We're seeking a candidate who can create unforgettable experiences for all visitors, inspire curiosity, and convey the ROM's cultural heritage with passion and excitement. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Enthusiastically deliver on-site and offsite promotions, speaking knowledgeably about the Museum's key exhibitions and programs. Focus on engagement points set by Marketing & Promotions.
  • Utilize ROM specimens and artifacts for captivating content. Maintain a positive demeanor, promoting ROM's content to boost awareness and attendance.
  • Distribute museum collateral and sell ROM products, aiming to meet or surpass event distribution and sales goals.
  • Set up and dismantle signage, activity stations, and promotional booths efficiently, ensuring a seamless event experience.
  • Conduct scripted experiences like tours and scavenger hunts for various groups, including Promotions, Tourism, and Group Sales clients, and ROM Members.
  • Greet clients and members, providing a welcoming experience for all ages, enhancing the Museum's visitor service reputation.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including data entry, to support the smooth operation of the Marketing & Promotions department.
  • Perform related duties as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a team-contributing willingness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two years of post-secondary training in Marketing, Education, or related to Museum Studies, with a basic sector understanding.
  • One to two years of experience in public engagement roles like Brand Ambassador, focusing on effective interaction with adults and children.
  • Proven storytelling ability, engaging diverse audiences with captivating presentations and excellent public speaking skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, adept in conflict resolution and proficient in problem-solving.
  • Energetic, dynamic individual with an outgoing personality, able to energize and engage diverse audiences.
  • Maintains professional appearance, understanding the importance of first impressions in public-facing roles.
  • Autonomous and detail-oriented in tasks like setting up and dismantling promotional materials with precision and efficiency.
  • Highly respectful of scheduling and commitments, reliable and punctual in all professional activities.
  • Able to work in teams and independently, showing initiative and effectiveness in solo work.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is desirable, enhancing communication and contributing to an inclusive experience.
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
START DATE: June 2024

STATUS: Part-time Permanent

HOURLY RATE: $23.64 – $27.01
SCHEDULE: up to 24 hours
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 420 hours or six (6) months
