Hours: Shifts as needed by kitchen staff scheduled week prior, no set hours
Pay Rate: $20.50 per hour
Position Description:
Reporting to the Food Services Coordinator, the Relief Food Services Worker is primarily responsible for assisting in the production and delivery of healthy and attractive meals to clients at different sites of St. Michael's Homes to aid in their recovery from the impact of addictions.
The Relief Food Services Worker assists with all Food Services activities, including inventorying, receiving, storing, cooking, disposing, and cleaning.
The Relief Food Services Worker complies with applicable food safety policies and best practices.
Responsibilities include:
- Assists the Food Services Coordinator in the execution of his/her duties
- Helps prepare and cook food - kitchen prepares daily meals for clients
- Cleans food storage, preparation, and delivery facilities
- Models best practices in Food Services and articulates these to Food Services Staff and trainees, and other staff and clients
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Two years' experience in Food Services and/or Hospitality
- Awareness and appreciation of client needs specific to the addictions and mental health field
- Completion of standard staff training modules
- Food Handler Certification
- Experience cooking for large groups
Working Conditions
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of the day
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. / 23 kg.
