Salary:

Note: This position requires you to be available a mixture of days, evenings, and weekends in order to provide the participants of each program and front-line staff members with the support they need. This is not a Monday-Friday position as there is a need to be available for a rotation of on-call supports on weekends.

DETAIL

Anew Centre for Healing is looking for a skilled candidate to oversee the day-to-day program operations of several homes (Family Preservation and Group Home for Children & Youth). The Program Manager provides direct support to the House Leads for each home, and their front-line staff, as well as overall support for the children, youth and parents that reside within these homes. The Program Manager assists in the direction and support of program philosophies. The Program Manager provides supervision and evaluation to House Leads, volunteers, and practicum students. They are accountable to the Directors of Anew Centre for Healing.

The successful candidate will be skilled in the area of Family Support as well as in the area of supporting children/youth with complex trauma. The Program Manager will be able to provide families and children/youth with the support, skills, and information they require to function successfully. This position is responsible for counseling our participants on an individual and group basis. The successful candidate will carry the responsibility for treatment planning, teaching/role modeling, crisis intervention, and reporting on the safety and progress of the participants. The successful candidate is responsible for the overall case management and the coordination of activities for the children, youth, and families within the parameters of the program.

DAILY ROUTINE/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of a trusting and therapeutic relationship with participants and the community;
  • Teaching living skills, social skills, regulation strategies and parenting skills through role modeling of appropriate behavior and being able to assess client deficits and strengths and use systematic plans of instruction, teaching methods, and approaches to transfer information and skills to participants;
  • Develop strong partnerships with a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Assist participants with the development and maintenance of problem-solving skills;
  • Activity planning that involves participants in groups that meet the recreational, educational and/or therapeutic needs;
  • Providing guidance and support to frontline staff members;
  • Orientation and training of new employees;
  • Oversight of the day-to-day service delivery;
  • Counseling skills that utilize problem-solving, de-escalation, goal-setting, and preventative interventions with clients in either a 1:1 or group scenario;
  • Administration and file maintenance;
  • Maintain structure, consistency, and effective follow-up on house rules, routines, and appropriate therapeutic interventions as required;
  • Documentation of session activities, themes, and follow-through of the children, youth, and their families;
  • Monthly documentation related to participants including service planning, reviews, plans, etc.;
  • Remain within the “Scope of Practice” of Child and Youth Care Counselors;
  • Providing all participants with a sense of safety, acceptance, and nurturance;
  • Scheduling and On-Call rotation;
  • Perform additional tasks or duties as directed by Leadership.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree or diploma in a Human Services field (i.e. Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology) would be considered an asset;
  • Three (3) years related to front-line (in a Family Support setting and/or group home setting) as well as 1-2 years of supervisory experience;
  • Current (6 months or newer) and Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Clearance;
  • Current (6 months or newer) Alberta Child Welfare (Intervention) Record Check;
  • Standard First Aid and CPR training;
  • Valid Driver's License and Clear Drivers Abstract as well as $2 million liability coverage;
  • Strong interpersonal skills that bridge the distance with individuals who may have a resistance to relationships, different morals/values, and alternative lifestyle choices;
  • Knowledge of family dynamics, addiction, domestic violence, and mental health disorders;
  • Excellent knowledge of the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement Agreements;
  • Non-judgmental manner and strong personal boundaries;
  • Demonstrates good writing and communication skills;
  • Experience in working with diverse cultural and religious communities;
  • Understanding of the client-centered and the Circle of Courage model and Milieu-Based Therapy philosophies of treatment/interventions;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Indigenous culture, beliefs, and traditions;
  • Must be flexible to attend mandatory training.
