Community Economic Development Officer

Please note this position is for a summer student and funded by the Government of Canada's Summer Job (CSJ) Program.

Terms of Employment:

  • Seasonal employment - full-time for 8 weeks/35 hours per week beginning May 06, 2024 to July 01, 2024
  • This position is for a young adult (16-30 years old)
  • Location; Newmarket, ON
  • Education No education required.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

E-commerce Development:

-Create and manage the development of WCYR's online thrift store using the platform GiveRise.

-Work on the design, functionality, and user experience to ensure an appealing and user-friendly platform.

Product Catalog Management:

-Curate and upload products onto the online store platform.

-Ensure accurate product descriptions, images, and pricing.

Marketing and Promotion:

-Devise and execute a marketing strategy to drive traffic to the online store.

-Use social media, email campaigns, and other channels to promote products and engage the community.

Community Engagement:

-Implement features or sections on the platform that encourage community participation and feedback.

-Organize virtual events, discussions, or forums to involve the community in store decisions or offerings.

Customer Service and Support:

-Provide customer support for inquiries, orders, and any technical issues related to the online store.

-Ensure a smooth customer experience and resolve any issues promptly.

Collaboration and Coordination:

-Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, or partners related to the online store's operations.

Skill Development and Knowledge Sharing:

-Share acquired knowledge and skills with the team.

Documentation and Evaluation:

-Maintain thorough documentation of processes, strategies, and outcomes for future reference.

-Participate in evaluation sessions to assess the effectiveness of the online store's impact on revenue and community engagement.
