Purpose and Key Focus

To become a Wildfire Driver applicants must show motivation, have a relevant skill set, complete fitness tests and be able to travel the province, as required.

Job Summary

Wildfire Driver's may be required to work long hours in challenging and changing conditions, such as high temperatures and steep terrain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing the most expedient route, safely transport injured worker's and medical staff from pick-up point
  • Driving medics daily to their designated destinations
  • Ensure that the exterior and interior of vehicles clean and presentable to clients and the public.
  • Conduct daily safety checks on vehicle(s), topping up vehicle fluids (e.g., gas and windshield wiper fluids etc.) in a timely manner
  • With the help from Operations, drivers may have to help facilitate maintenance /repairs by taking the vehicles to scheduled repair and maintenance appointments
  • Liaise with nearby fire centres as needed to coordinate patient care and transfers.
  • Perform unit and site inspections in compliance with Infinity Industrials' health and safety plan.
  • Operate the vehicle safely and report any vehicle and/or radio maintenance concerns/problems needs to the Supervisor

Core Competencies

  • Experience working in a remote camp with limited in-person support.
  • Comfortable travelling on small aircrafts.
  • Ability to maintain composure, be firm, reassuring, and efficient in emergency situations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey medical information.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Good physical condition (must be able to complete the Fitness Test of 2.25 Km walk with 20lbs in 20 minutes).
  • With safety being our top priority, strict adherence to Infinity's Zero-Tolerance Policy towards drugs and alcohol is a condition of employment.

Education & Experience

  • S100/S185 or S100A
  • OFA Level 1 with Transportation Endorsement
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence & Current (within 30 days) Drivers Abstract
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with little supervision and the ability to take initiative
