General Accountability:

The Senior Electrical Developer is responsible for producing electrical and electronic designs, design specifications and test documents following the Company's Quality System. They act as the subject matter expert on all electrical issues encountered in manufacturing or in the field.

They are responsible for sustaining and upgrading electrical design. They are also responsible for safety and EMC certification of all electrical aspects of the Company's medical devices.

The Senior Electrical Developer is expected to provide technical leadership with many aspects of the overall design of the Company's products. This includes reviewing their peers' designs and those already developed by the Company and suggesting improvements to them.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out electrical engineering design activities including design, debugging, modifications, and verification of electrical components of the company's products.
  • Review existing designs or new designs developed by peers or external contractors.
  • Develop and document circuit schematics and create the BOM for printed circuit board assemblies.
  • Ensure the device's electrical safety and participate in risk management activities.
  • Support prototype and product manufacturing activities as needed.
  • Support the layout of as well as DFM and DFT of printed circuit boards.
  • Participate in the generation of system requirements and specifications.
  • Develop manufacturing and test instructions.
  • Participate in or lead design reviews by providing expertise in hardware designs.
  • Follow PMI Design Control Procedure.
  • Develop test methods for agency approval and work with the test agencies to qualify products.
  • Investigate product complaints, perform root cause analysis of failures, and propose remediation in a timely fashion.

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Key Attributes (experience, skills and technical knowledge):

  • Five years of design and development experience in analog and digital circuit design preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronics engineering design principles for analog, digital, and mixed signal designs.
  • High-speed digital and analog circuit design, PCB layout and schematic capture using professional design software;
  • Electrical/RF engineering for MRI compatible electrical devices preferred.
  • Familiarity with IEC-60601 is an asset.
  • Design and testing for EMC.
  • Logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communications skills.
  • Detail-orientated, highly motivated, patient and diligent.
  • Able to work well in teams and independently.
