We are seeking a Summer Day Camp Program Coordinator and you will report to the Manager of operations.

Job Description:

  • Assist and follow-up with individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families in the registration process for summer camp and review to ensure the program is a match for support needs (i.e., ISP, Behaviour Support Plans).
  • Liaise/communicate with different stakeholders (i.e., community businesses, organizations, supervisors, and parents/caregivers) incidents).
  • Address any concerns/feedback from parents/caregivers in relation to the camp. Escalate to Community Support Coordinator as needed.
  • Follow-up on feedback/evaluations of the program regularly.
  • Provide support to children, youth, and adults who have an intellectual disability in the Summer Camp setting as needed. (Camp will operate from July 2 to August 23, 2024).
  • Supervise and engage participants in social, recreational, life skills, and community-based activities during registration and onboarding. Be present at the camp daily for check-in and check-out.
  • Supervise camp employees and provide ongoing coaching support. You will manage the camp team of senior camp counselors and juniors, working closely with the lead activity coordinator.

  • Oversee the budget and plan expenditures related to camp expenses.
  • Ensure health and safety protocols are in place and being followed. Campers and families follow policies and attendance
  • Ensure incidents are documented and appropriately reported in the Association's database.
  • Conduct debriefing meetings with summer camp employees regularly.
  • Be a proactive team leader and promote the Companies values of teamwork within Community Living York South and with all stakeholders.
  • Carry out administrative duties as required by iHealthox.
  • Support with the creation of activity kits/supplies for the camp and assist with distribution as needed.
  • Be the main point of contact for summer camp-related inquiries/incidents; respond and address situations to ensure appropriate action has been implemented to address incidents.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the camp and address concerns as needed (i.e., attendance).

Qualifications:

  • Values-driven individuals.
  • Experience working with people of various ages and abilities is preferred; experience working with children with special needs.
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma required; in health science.
  • 2 years of experience working at a children's camp in a senior camp leader role.
  • Must have a registered SIN.
  • Ability to be flexible with working hours.
  • Ability to lead others/leadership skills/model, direct, and mentor colleagues; capable of fostering independence in others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent public speaking skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Candidates must have COVID-19 Vaccination unless the candidate has exemption based on human rights grounds. Supporting documents are required.
    • Strong advocacy and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated achievements in community development/community capacity building.
    • Superior computer skills in Google, Excel, and search engine capabilities; camp software tool.
