Job Description

Mission

CIMA+ is currently seeking applications for the position of Technician to join our Transportation Design Team in any of the following Ontario offices: Mississauga-Toronto, Burlington, Kitchener, London, Bowmanville, or Ottawa. Reporting to Project Manager and Senior Staff, the Technician will be responsible for supporting the development of multidisciplinary municipal functional, preliminary, and detailed design plans in the areas for roadways, intersections improvements, and active transportation facilities, all in a team-based environment working collaboratively to deliver a wide range of municipal transportation engineering projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits to assist in field data collection and subsequently organize field data to support project objectives.
  • Assist in the integration of multi-disciplinary input into the design process from specialists in areas such as traffic engineering, transportation safety, structural engineering, stormwater management, water/wastewater process, geotechnical engineering, and environment/ecology.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design drawings, quantity and cost estimates associated with new and/or the rehabilitation of regional arterial roads, collector roads, local roads, and bike trails.
  • Coordinate with utility stakeholders and regulatory agencies and prepare materials for inclusion in permit application packages to secure approvals.
  • Ensure that the projects needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
  • Work under the direction of Senior Staff and collaborate with CADD staff working within the group.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Civil Technician or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with minimum 3 continuous years of relevant experience, preferably from a consulting engineering office environment in Ontario.
  • Proficiency with Microstation, InRoads or OpenRoads along with strong computer software skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with TAC standards, OPS, OTM along with various Municipal & Regional design and drafting standards (York, Durham, Peel, Halton).
  • Well-developed written communication skills with the ability to integrate illustrations and diagrams into written materials to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Organized and Motivated Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects.
