The Financial Reporting Analyst will be based in Sinopec Canada's Calgary, Alberta head office, on a hybrid office schedule, with the option to work from home on Monday and Friday.

Primary Purpose of Position

Sinopec Canada has an opportunity for a Financial Reporting Analyst to join the Finance team. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, this position is responsible for meeting the Company's financial reporting objectives by applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information and prepare accurate and timely consolidated financial statements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements
  • Prepare annual working papers and consolidated financial statements and notes
  • Prepare journal entries to facilitate month-end
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations
  • Prepare and file reports for Stats Canada
  • Maintain and perform key controls in the financial reporting process
  • Key contact for external auditors
  • Various ad-hoc reporting as required
  • Assist with Treasury responsibilities as needed
  • Assist with special projects as required
  • Review and approval of invoices

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as it applies to the oil and gas industry
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Power BI
  • Working experience with QByte is considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for thorough review processes Excellent problem solving and critical skills
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and in a multi-discipline team
  • Displays a high-level of integrity in all actions, complying with and promoting the Company's core values, a respectful work environment, and aligning with the Company's code of business conduct and ethics

Qualifications

  • CPA accounting designation
  • At least seven years of experience post designation in the oil and gas industry
  • A minimum of five years in a financial reporting role
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
