Primary Purpose of Position

Sinopec Canada has an opportunity for an Oil Sands and North Montney Joint Venture (NMJV) Asset Advisor to join the Oil Sands and NMJV team. Reporting to the Vice President – Oil Sands & North Montney Joint Venture, you will be responsible for the analysis and stewardship of Oil Sands & NMJV related assets. A key area of responsibility will include communications and interfacing internally within Sinopec Canada and externally with JV Partners.

The Oil Sands and North Montney Joint Venture Asset Advisor will be based in Sinopec Canada's Calgary, Alberta head office on a hybrid office schedule, with the option to work from home on Monday and Friday.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review operator materials and complete technical, economic, and strategy analysis related to Oil Sands & NMJV assets.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating Oil Sands and NMJV short- and long-term business plan models and delivering conclusions and recommendations.
  • Support project initiatives, including studies and commercial/technical analysis for Oil Sands and NMJV matters as required.
  • Conduct successful commercial discussions and negotiations for Oil Sands and NMJV matters as required.
  • Advise and make recommendation on solutions related to Oil Sands and NMJV assets.
  • Represent Sinopec Canada at Oil Sands and NMJV working level committee meetings as required.
  • Support Oil Sands & NMJV team on day-to-day matters as required.
  • Assist in the development and review of annual budgets and long-range business plan development activities.
  • Support deliverables related to Sinopec HQ information requests.
  • Interface with various Sinopec Canada departments including Finance, Legal, Surface Land, HSE, Business Development, and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams as required.
  • Other activities related to the role.

Position Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Direct experience in business development and commercial agreements.
  • Significant experience and strong understanding of Oil Sands and Joint Venture process.
  • Oil Sands mining and extraction experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, experience with PowerBI, LTP model and data analytics.
  • Economic evaluation and modeling experience is considered an asset.
  • Succeed in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work in a team and independently on multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to meet goals and objectives with designated timeframes for successful execution.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills combined with exceptional analytical, facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders and joint venture partners.
  • Previous experience working with international joint venture partners in a multinational organization is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization, time management and planning skills.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Engineering (with a preference in Mining, Mechanical or Chemical engineering).
  • 8+ years of experience of relevant oil and gas industry experience with Oil Sands and or Shale Gas (Montney) exposure.
  • A Professional Engineer designation accredited with APEGA
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
