The Store Manager is an on-the-floor leader, performing all store functions and acting as a guide and role model for the team. Store Managers are enthusiastic and passionate about customer service, running a retail store, people development, and all types of leathercrafting and products. The Store Manager will coach, develop, and inspire the team so that everyone working in the store serves as a true ambassador for Tandy Leather and creates an environment where everyone delivers excellent service, Tandy Leather product knowledge, and offers expertise in leathercrafting skills that translate into sales.

The Store Manager's leadership, energy, and willingness to drive retail store branding, create a niche retail experience and manage a retail business that drives success by consistently executing operational functions per company standards.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Retail Store Operations

  • Utilizes retail management knowledge and experience to deliver sales plans and company objectives consistently.
  • Schedule and orchestrate proper store coverage to meet business needs and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Delivers a retail experience that supports Tandy Leather's strategic plan to achieve financial results.
  • Drives sales by continually identifying opportunities to achieve both personal and store goals.
  • Creates an emotional connection with customers and the store team that translates into sales and drives engagement.
  • Spends 100% of the time in the retail store
  • Ensures consistent execution of operational policies and procedures and maintains brand standards.
  • Monitors and maintains store safety standards and identifies, resolves, and escalates store maintenance issues as needed.
  • Communicate information regarding promotions, contests, and incentives to the team.
  • Conduct routine store audits as directed and formulate strategies to improve results with the Zone Manager.
  • Implement strategies to achieve store shrink goals in partnership with the Assistant Store Manager and Zone Manager.

Leadership & People Management

  • Leads by example by coaching, developing, mentoring, and inspiring the team to enhance store performance.
  • People work for people – uses this philosophy to grow careers, encourage teamwork and retain talent through development and a teaching-focused environment.
  • Networks, recruits, hires to staffing needs and trains new hires.
  • Inspires team growth through continual coaching, balanced performance feedback, and providing individual development.

Customer Service & Brand Retail Experience

  • Creates an inspirational and motivating work environment that reflects the brand's integrity.
  • Develops customer relationships through interaction and feedback
  • Acts as an ambassador for the Tandy Leather brand.
  • Builds the Tandy Leather brand by consistently executing the brand standards and retail experience.
  • Continually coaches and develops to ensure customers receive an exceptional retail experience.

Leathercrafting & Product Knowledge

  • Stays adept at leathercrafting skills by continual practice, application, and staying curious about new trends in leathercrafting.
  • Teaches store employees AND customer classes on Tandy leathercrafting techniques and ensures they are the best possible brand ambassadors.
  • Continually learns Tandy leather products and is knowledgeable about appropriate applications based on customer needs.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma GED equivalent, BA/BS preferred
  • Previous leadership experience in a retail store of 2+ years
  • Physical ability to be on the sales floor for extended periods and to move and handle merchandise and fixtures throughout the store may entail lifting and performing all functions as set forth above.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
  • Strong leadership, passionate, acts with integrity, driven, and accountable.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Leathercrafting knowledge or skills a plus
  • Demonstrated expertise in retail store operations
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to use critical thinking to deliver absolute execution of the operational components of the store
  • A demonstrated track record of success in achieving retail store sales goals and customer service, retail merchandising/marketing, and retail operations a plus.
