POSITION: Service Technician

LOCATION: Grande Prairie, Alberta

JOB SUMMARY:

The Agency is assisting True North Overhead Crane Services Ltd. in the recruitment of a Service Technician. We are a locally owned Grande Prairie company that provides crane and hoist inspections, operator training, load tests and preventative maintenance and repairs throughout the Peace Region. We conduct our business with integrity and dependability while promoting a positive safety culture in the workplace.

We are seeking a self-motivated person with a strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in overhead cranes to join our team. The successful candidate should have a positive attitude and have the ability to work independently as well as on a team. They will be responsible for servicing and troubleshooting overhead cranes and hoists in a fast-paced environment while staying safety focused at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as a team member to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on overhead cranes
  • Trouble-shoot equipment breakdowns

  • Consult with customers on repair and safety related issue

  • Work from specifications, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions

  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues
  • Reliable, organized, and attentive to details when working on and servicing overhead cranes, hoists and projects
  • Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance performed
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards and regulations related to overhead crane safety and inspection

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Electrical Apprentice or interest in getting their apprenticeship as an Electrician
    • Other trade certifications may be considered

  • Strong mechanical knowledge and/or aptitude

  • Comfortable working at heights

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs

  • Ability to work varied hours, overtime and on call as part of the service office rotation
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License & Driver's Abstract

  • Clear communicator - both verbally and written

  • Certifications preferred: First Aid, Zoom Boom Training, H2S Alive, Fall Arrest and Aerial Work Platform
