Wage: $22.62/hourHours: 40 - 60 hrs/week Type: Seasonal (March/April to October/November)Benefits: Accommodation availableJOB SUMMARYAs a Grain Farm Worker you will be working on a combined Grain and Cattle farm in Central Alberta. This position includes assisting in the planting and harvesting of wheat, peas, canola, and mustard crops. Participate in soil preparation, crop planting and spraying and may include working with the cattle operations. JOB DUTIES

• Plant, fertilize, and harvest crops
• Assist with general farm maintenance and maintenance of equipment and tools
• May assist in other planting activities
• May assist with the cattle operation
• May write daily progress reports of inventory harvested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Completion of secondary school preferred
• One year of experience
• Valid Driver's License
• Mechanically inclined
• Able to work overtime as required
• Dependability and reliability are assets

GOOD TO KNOW!

Major field crops grown in Western Canada include wheat, canola, barley, corn, soybeans and (seed) potatoes. Other crops include rye, oats and mixed grains. Spring planting typically takes place in April and May and silaging season usually starts mid-June. Harvesting activities generally end in October. Some employers are able to provide sufficient work during the winter months as well.
