JOB SUMMARY:

As an Early Childhood Educator within our team, you will play a role in fostering the holistic development of children aged 6 months to 12 years old. Working under the guidance of the Family Lead, this position places a strong emphasis on implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with the BC Early Learning Framework. Your responsibilities will span co-constructing curriculum, facilitation of programming, cultivating relationships with families, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and contributing to the overall success of the program. Additionally, actively collaborating with the team's Early Years Pedagogist ensures that our practices are built on reflection and open to what may be possible when working with diverse families.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the childminding team to co-construct developmentally appropriate curriculum, emphasizing the principles and vision of the BC Early Learning Framework.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that respects and celebrates the cultural diversity of families and children.
  • Cultivate rich and supportive relationships with team, children and parents.
  • Help create and guide developmentally appropriate activities that support the holistic development of children.
  • Meet program objectives; compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and Child Care Licensing Regulation.
  • Maintain records and observations of children to support curriculum planning.
  • Maintain library and picture symbols for language supports within the daycare.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Family Lead.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the entire CVIMS Team to ensure unified and holistic service delivery for families.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to stay informed about advancements in early childhood education.
  • Some work outside of regular office hours, including evenings and weekends, will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education certificate.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Recent Criminal Record Check.
  • English language skills minimum CLB 5.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • 2 years of experience in a day care/child care setting.
  • ECE Code of Ethics certificate.
  • Member of ECE BC.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Fluency in a second language would be an asset.
  • Experience working with children from diverse cultural background an asset.
  • Mother Goose and Nobody's Perfect certification.
  • Computer literacy; competency with basic office equipment.
  • Attitudes and values in keeping with the goals and philosophies of CVIMS.
