Summary:

Ulnooweg welcomes you to apply to be a Youth Engagement Intern and join our growing team! Your role is all about connecting with Indigenous communities across Newfoundland. Working closely with youth, you will learn about their needs, share cool work that the Ulnooweg Indigenous Communities Foundation (UICF) does and help plan community events. Join UICF and see how you can positively impact Indigenous communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Visit communities across Newfoundland, have conversations with young people, understand their needs, and tell them about current programs from UICF
  • Assist in planning events and initiatives for Youth in the community.
  • Document and share the stories and experiences in community with your team.
  • Reflect on your experiences in communities and share your learnings with the team

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest youth engagement, understanding their needs, and contributing to their development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively connect with youth and communities as a whole.
  • Ability to adapt to different community environments and connect with youth from various backgrounds.
  • Empathetic approach to listening.
  • Able to collaborate with the UICF team, contributing insights gathered during community engagement sessions.
  • Experience working in communications, community service, community engagement or similar is an asset.
  • Class 5 vehicle license and access to a vehicle is required (all necessary travel is reimbursed)
