Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will participate in carrying out human resources strategies and procedures for the organization. You will be responsible for handling all aspects of human resources with a focus on recruitment and retention. You will also be responsible for HR and Safety policies and procedures as well as employee relations. You will be asked to communicate and explain company policies/procedures/laws and serve as the initial contact for all HR related inquires, providing exceptional service to our managers, supervisors, and employees.
Recruiting:
Recruitment, Selection and Retention Activities for all landscape and snow seasons
Coordination and participation in recruitment and selection process including identifying selection criteria; developing questions and tests; screening applications; interviewing candidates and verifying references, etc.
Making job offers and preparing and sending out the offer package.
Develop recommend and implement human resources programs and services in the area of recruitment and retention.
Provide communication and training to management and staff related to recruitment and selection and retention programs.
Support the management team in planning efforts related to staffing levels and requirements.
Develop and maintain Recruitment and Selection policies and procedures to meet the requirements and to conform to employment legislation
Participate in Career and Job Fairs. Participate and collaborate in Recruitment initiatives.
Developing, maintaining and updating job descriptions on a periodic basis.
Advise and make recommendations to management on best practices, human rights legislation and all other relevant legislations pertaining to Recruitment and Selection
Other HR Activities:
Maintain and update job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
Develop, recommend and implement company policies, procedures, and appropriate training in all areas of employment, including employee relations and performance management.
Be a visible resource for employees at both our Hamilton and Niagara locations
Prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
Support, collaborate, and advise supervisors on various Human Resources issues and participate in the application of policies and procedure (ex: manage disciplinary measure procedures).
Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
Health & Safety:
Develop, modify, and implement and actively participate in the Company Health & Safety program
Perform infield site audits of staff while working on site
Assist in development of site specific and task specific Safe Standard Operating Procedures.
Manage work related incident files (WSIB claims management, modified duties, follow-up on corrective action).
Qualifications:
  • Landscape and Snow removal experience considered an asset
  • Recruitment and Retention experience
  • Human Resources Management Diploma (Asset)
