ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Intermediate Quality Coordinator with specialized expertise in commercial and institutional construction to support the project teams. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all construction projects adhere to established quality standards and exceed client expectations. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of quality assurance processes within the construction industry.

This role reports directly to the Superintendent when the project assigned and reports to the Construction Services Manager in between projects. The project will be in South Vancouver for 4 years and after relocating to another project or servicing multiple projects.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Quality Assurance and Control Oversight:

  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and maintain comprehensive quality plans.
  • Implement and enforce Project Specific Quality Plan and Quality Systems for the various disciplines in our construction projects.
    • Disciplines such as ground improvements (Rigid inclusions, pipe and sheet piles, utilities), formwork and concrete, substructure, superstructure, building envelope, mechanical, electrical, controls and finishings.
  • Review quality specifications and technical design documents
  • Review and verify Method Statements and Inspection Test Plan
  • Ensure Subcontractor's Quality System is in place prior to starting work.
  • Conduct and document regular quality inspections of Subcontractors' work and vendors to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with project teams to address and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide recommendations for enhancements to construction processes that contribute to overall project quality without affecting schedule.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of quality control activities, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective action plans.
  • Participate and lead the sites internal and external site audits.
  • Prepare regular (daily, weekly, monthly) quality reports and updates for the Superintendent.
  • Spearhead and monitor all consultant inspections, NCR's and ensure proper closeout.

Interaction:

  • Serve as a point of contact for quality-related inquiries from project team, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Foster positive relationships with Subcontractors, clients, and project team by demonstrating a commitment to delivering high-quality construction projects.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in quality and implement best practices.
  • Document lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of quality management processes.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality coordination with a focus on commercial and institutional construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills and ability
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards. (NBC, CSA, ASME)
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills.
