Accessible Vehicle Driver

1 Full Time Term Position to March 31, 2025

JOB SUMMARY:

The Accessible Vehicle Driver is responsible for transporting seniors and people living with chronic health conditions to and from their homes and their respective relevant services, in an effective and safe manner. The Accessible Vehicle Driver will maintain the health and safety of stakeholders while transporting, loading and unloading passengers and ensure that all policies and procedures are followed while operating the vehicle(s). The Driver will also be responsible for assisting in the maintenance for the company vehicles, including scheduling maintenance and repair of vehicles. This position will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and coordinate services in consultation with individuals and partnering programs.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  1. Must have a valid Ontario Driver's License (i.e., Full G License).
  2. Preferred minimum of two years' experience with community engagement, coordination, and transportation; minimum five years' safe driving experience and clear Drivers' Abstract.
  3. Preferred post-secondary education and/or a minimum of two years' experience.
  4. Excellent driving skills and clear Drivers' Abstract.
  5. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and experience working with Indigenous persons; knowledge of an Indigenous language(s) will be considered an asset.
  6. Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines; ability to remain attentive when faced with distractions.
  7. Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  8. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  9. Ability to problem solve and take initiative; effective crisis intervention skills.
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with computers/tablets/mobile devices.
  11. Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented setting.
  12. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
  13. Valid First Aid / CPR Certificate.
  14. A clear criminal reference check / Vulnerable Sector Clearance is a condition of employment.
