Our client is part of a large retail network innovation company. They are the building consulting, design, and brand division with a focus on automotive retail network design and experience. With an unparalleled body of experience in the automotive vertical, they work with some of the world's most prestigious brands.

We are looking for a bilingual Associate Designer who will report to the Director of Design in the design and building consulting division. The AD creates and produces concept drawings in Revit and supports the accounts through project coordination and review. They will work with all the project stakeholders (clients, suppliers, consultant team), while ensuring work meets the project schedule deadlines and is within the project scope and budget.

Design

  • Develop design concepts collaboratively under Senior Designer's mentorship.

  • Collaborate with the team to create, review, and revise design documents using Revit during schematic and design development stages.

  • Generate and modify drawings through AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Evaluate and provide feedback on design and technical documents from dealer's project consultants, as needed.

  • Assist in producing technical reports, specifications, and calculations.

  • Coordinate directly with the client's team, ensuring comprehensive project oversight and review.

  • Create visual representations of design ideas, including 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.

  • Facilitate effective communication within the project team.

  • Perform site visits and attend meetings at automotive dealerships as required, and prepare deficiency reports when necessary.

Project / Program Management

  • Address construction and program inquiries from dealers and their consultant teams promptly.

  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary in-house teams to achieve project objectives.

  • Communicate project updates to the Account Executive, Director, and project stakeholders.

  • Assist in organizing meetings, and preparing agendas, materials, and samples.

  • Attend project meetings and document meeting minutes when needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design.

  • 5+ years of experience as a designer in areas like Retail or multi-disciplinary design/architectural practice, preferably with Canadian or US experience.

  • Familiarity with Canadian/Provincial building code standards.

  • Background in collaborating with production teams.

  • Experience in managing people, expectations, and deadlines.

  • Proficiency in AutoDesk (Revit), Sketchup, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).

  • Proficient in 3D modeling (Lumion) and rendering programs.

  • Demonstrated work experience in design, design thinking, and innovation practices.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills when dealing with various data sources.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days at the office, located in downtown Toronto and 2 days working from home.
