Overview:

Ena Lake Lodge Fishing Club (ELLFC) is now hiring for its 2024 season, running from June through September. We are looking for mature, dedicated, experienced, and personable staff who demonstrate a passion for providing the perfect customer experience and angling adventure for lodge shareholders and retail guests. Fly fishing expertise (pike and trout) is a definite asset!! Ena Lake Lodge hosts up to 12 guests per visit in 4 individual cabins on each 3- or 4-night trips.

This position will answer directly to the Senior Guide(s) and the General Manager and will interact daily with the Ena Lake Lodge team. This team consists of 13-14 members including; Assistant General Manager, Operations & Maintenance Coordinator, Chef and Hospitality team members (3), and Fishing Guides (6-7), Operations Assistant (1). Fishing Guides will report directly to the Senior Guide(s) and work closely with the Operations Coordinator and General Manager. The ELLFC team works together to provide an exceptional experience for all guests young and old. All lodge staff will be employed for the season, with scheduled breaks on and/or off island (as available).

Responsibilities and Duties of this position include:

  • Provide the “Best” possible customer service and experience for all our guests
  • Maintain The Ena Lake Lodge core values in all aspects of ELLFC program delivery Ena Lake Core Values
  • Assist in preparing the lodge, facilities, equipment, and cabins for the start of the season.
  • Welcome guests at the dock and assist with the loading and unloading of supplies, gear, and luggage from aircraft.
  • Assist in renovation projects, day-to-day operation and maintenance throughout the season.
  • Facilitating guest schedules and fulfilling guiding assignments on a per guest trip basis.
  • Operate and maintain watercraft and equipment, clean and fuel boats daily.
  • Plan and lead daily fishing excursions, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all guests both on island, on Ena Lake and flyout/portage lakes.
  • Coordinate with hospitality staff and assist in shore lunch preparation, cleaning fish and clean up.
  • Work with hospitality staff to ensure the overall guest experience is top quality.
  • Camp work such as cutting wood, raking sand, staining wood, garbage disposal, fuel storage, and other duties as assigned (some heavy lifting may be required).
  • Provide outdoor, wilderness and wildlife instruction and information to guests.
  • Assist in the departure of guests, including moving luggage from cabins to dock/aircraft.
  • Follow ALL standard safety procedures and proper use of equipment.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining guide personal quarters and staff social areas (some meal prep may be required).
  • Participate in Ena Team Tip Pool initiative that treats all team members equally.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Guide, Operations Coordinator and General Manager.

  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Experience in delivering a high standard of customer service.
  • Excellent and safe boat operation skills. Good knowledge with marine equipment (electronics, downriggers, and trolling motors) and basic maintenance skills.
  • Prior work experience at a fishing lodge, remote location, camp and/or previous job experience in the tourism industry is preferred.
  • Very knowledgeable in traditional lake fishing methodology and techniques. Having the ability to teach and mentor fly fishing experiences is a preferred asset.
  • Wilderness experience and enthusiasm (camping, fishing, hunting, and boating) is a requirement.
  • The following Certifications are required:
    • First Aid/CPR certification
    • WHMIS
    • PAL
    • Boating License
  • Guest tackle and gear will be provided, guide wear costs will be supplemented. (guides are responsible for their personal gear).

Availability Options:

  • Full Season: Must be available to depart end of May/early June, based on pre-season opening schedule and remain until season close. (these positions will be seasonal employees with EI benefits, etc.)
  • Flex Season: Part-time availability to fill-in during the season for a week or two.
  • End of Season: Available for the last 3 weeks of the Ena Season.

Compensation:

In addition to living and working in a pristine and beautiful setting and the opportunity to share your passion for the outdoors with lodge shareholders and guests, compensation will include room and board, competitive daily compensation rate, and gratuities (tip pool for all Lodge staff)
