Job overview

At Evans Hunt, our mission is to create experiences that powerfully combine strategy, creative, and technology. As UX Design Lead, your role is to advocate for users' needs and help deliver experiences that reflect those needs.

Your addition to the team will extend our capabilities, build internal capacity, and push the status quo for creating websites and products that are compelling, appealing, and easy to use.

You will lead a team of designers, providing design feedback and mentorship.

Who we're looking for

Your professional or academic experience has given you the ability to work with a human-centred lens and create more meaningful digital experiences. You believe in a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to projects and that diverse perspectives lead to stronger work.

You also have 5+ years of experience working in the telecommunications industry.

If the person below sounds like you, you should definitely apply.

  • You have a deep understanding of the iterative user experience design process. You know how to think ahead to how pages and components will function across different devices and for different audiences.
  • You're proficient in software such as Figma and Adobe CC for designing and prototyping. You also understand and have experience with agile work processes.
  • You're collaborative. You love solving design problems and understand how your work fits with other disciplines, including writing, visual design, technologists, research, and data. You also understand how to use the UX design process to create alignment with the team and consensus with stakeholders.
  • You can communicate effectively with developers. You have some knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of technology solutions.
  • You're flexible. You know when to hold your ground and when to adapt your approach or recommendations based on feedback. You win the hearts and minds of clients by helping them ask the right questions, probing when necessary, and developing tailored strategies.
  • You're a leader. You know how to get the best work out of a design team, and are an inspiring and compassionate mentor.

A day in the life

While employed by Evans Hunt, you will be fully integrated with our client's digital experience team, working on multiple lines of products and channels.

There are a few activities that will likely take up most of your time. These include:

  • Leading the user experience work for multiple client teams, and advocating for those customers every step of the way.
  • Creating organizing principles, detailed user flows and site maps.
  • Sketching, wireframing, designing and prototyping digital experiences.
  • Testing your work to improve results for our clients consistently.
  • Leading clients and customers in rapid design labs and workshops.
  • Mentoring a team of junior and intermediate designers.

What's in it for you

Evans Hunt is a full-service digital agency focused on the integration of strategy, creative, and technology. Our experienced team of 110+ employees delivers fully integrated marketing solutions for top national and international organizations. We're a fun place that does good work. Here's what we're offering:

  • Salary range: 110k-130k
  • Culture & lifestyle: We're an agency, and we work hard, but life is also for living. We strive to provide a respectful and inclusive workplace in which all are welcome. We're also not much for micromanaging––you'll have a lot of flexibility to deliver great work in ways that make sense to you.
  • Office availability: You will have access to our client's office workspace in the Greater Toronto Area.

What we'll ask

There are a couple of things we'll ask for as part of the hiring process:

  • Cover letter: Tell us a little about yourself and your fit for the job (it's true that companies don't look at applications that don't include cover letters).
  • Portfolio/case study presentation: If you make it to the interview stage, we'll request that you present your portfolio and/or applicable case studies.
