Position Title: Shop Hand / Specialty Labourer
Location: Brooks, AB
Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and dynamic Shop Hand / Specialty Labourer to join our team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is adept at managing organization, stocking, and dispersal of inventory. This role requires a mechanically inclined individual with proficient computer skills, exceptional multitasking abilities, and the capacity to perform urgent tasks (hotshots) throughout Alberta as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently organize, stock, and disperse inventory, focusing on small tools and consumables for field crews.
- Execute purchase orders and manage supplies inventory with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrate mechanical inclination by understanding and sourcing the appropriate tools and consumables required for operational success.
- Provide troubleshooting support and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring minimal disruption to field operations.
- Work collaboratively with the procurement team and other departments to ensure seamless supply chain management.
- Participate in a shift rotation schedule, including availability every second weekend and the ability to work up to 10-hour days.
- Adapt to the evolving needs of the organization, showcasing an ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Service small generators, small water pumps, etc.
- Complete maintenance tasks, including seasonal responsibilities like snow clearing
- Ensure cleanliness and proper inventory of company vehicles and job vans
- Maintain accurate inventory and certification records for tools, enhancing safety and compliance
- Cleaning and wash heavy equipment as required.
- Assist Field crew with loading and unloading materials, ensuring proper handling and logistics
- Ability to lift up to 50+ pounds
- Working in various indoor and outdoor environments which may include extreme temperatures depending on the season.
Qualifications:
- Adequate computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment.
- Mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of tools and consumables used in field operations.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
- Experience towing a trailer with a 2-ton vehicle or under
- Skid steer operation is considered an asset
