Mainland is hiring! We are looking for a skilled Labourer to join our Energy team.

The Opportunity

The Labourer, working with our Energy team will be responsible in ensuring that the site is well organized, clean, tidy and that the crews have everything they need to get the job done.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work safely in a construction site and promote a safe work environment adhering to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings
  • Responsible for the general maintenance and support of the Energy sites while working on underground natural gas line installations
    • digging, trenching, swamping, sweeping, packing, as well as other duties as assigned
  • Assisting drivers in loading and unloading deliveries
  • Help maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues
  • Keeping a positive safety attitude and ensuring hazards are eliminated
  • Maintain quality results of work

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset

  • Previous construction experience
  • Natural gas pipeline experience is a definite asset
  • A positive attitude and a strong team mentality
  • First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset
  • Good communications ability, able to work with variety of individuals
  • Understand safety and how to communicate safety issues as they arise
  • Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all of shift standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
  • Flexible with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed
  • Willingness to learn and have a good work ethic
  • Support other crew members on daily site activities outside of job scope
