Since its inception in 2008, Pure Motion Dance Company has grown to be one of the largest commercial dance studios in Calgary and we have gained a reputation as the most trusted leader of children's dance education in our area – making us the go to studio of choice for families.

Purpose of Role:

We are looking for an outstanding individual who desires to be part of a busy and bustling dance community and who is eager to be part of a strong team and who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and go above and beyond to strive for excellence.

This position will involve teaching junior, intermediate and/or advanced level dance classes. Working with Pure Motion's various syllabus dance training curriculum's (ADAPT, RAD, Acrobatic Arts, Dance Cirque, and Ready Set Dance), designing and executing routines for our annual Year End Showcase, and participating with Pure Motion's competition team and performance team if interested.

PMDC has a reputation for quality teaching practices and is a brand that upholds itself by emphasizing universal standards and consistency. In this role you will make sure students receive high quality instruction and technique development in every class. We are passionate about dance lessons teaching life lessons and in this role, you will uphold these values when instructing your classes.

Main areas of responsibility in this role:

  • Preparing students for successful completion of dance examinations (ADAPT, RAD and Acrobatic Arts).
  • Creating and developing thorough lesson plans for your classes so that our high expectation of quality instruction is being met and maintained. Lesson plans that progressively build dancers' technical skills, creativity, and performance abilities is a must.
  • Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging dance classes to children, focusing on a variety of styles such as [Ballet/Jazz/Tap/Hip-hop/etc.]. Tailoring instruction to accommodate various skill levels and ages.
  • Evaluating students on their progress at multiple checkpoints throughout the season.
  • Assisting with our competitive team planning and programming from attending auditions, to selecting team members, and providing exceptional and creative choreography that is award winning.
  • Assisting with the development of our annual Year End Showcase where you will help create the theme and provide input for art direction. You will assist with backstage production on show day and create choreography for your weekly classes.
  • Passionate Guidance: Infuse your classes with your love for dance, inspiring young dancers to explore their PURE potential and develop a lifelong appreciation for the art.
  • Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a collaborative and supportive studio community.
  • Personal Growth and Development: Show a willingness to continuously learn and improve your teaching methods through workshops, training sessions, and self-study.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, ballet, etc. with a strong foundation in technique and performance.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and the ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both with students and parents.
  • Eager to learn and open to receiving feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Relevant teaching certifications or education is a plus (ADAPT, RAD, Acrobatic Arts, etc.)

Outcomes and how your role will be measured:

In this role you will report directly to the Founder & CEO and work closely with the Customer Experience Director to ensure all classes run smoothly and efficiently. This includes:
