WHY THIS ROLE:

We are seeking a passionate and results-oriented Venture Talent Manager to join our Venture Development team. Reporting to the Director, Venture Services, you will leverage your network and experience to initiate and build out Invest Ottawa's Venture Talent service offering for IO Venture Path clients. In this dynamic position, you will tackle a critical challenge in Ottawa's tech sector: the struggle of promising startups and scale-ups to attract and recruit top leadership. Your role involves establishing a strong talent pool for Ottawa's tech scene, equipping ventures with the insights and resources to navigate talent acquisition effectively, and serving as a trusted advisor to Ottawa's tech leaders.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Work closely and collaboratively with the Venture Program Managers to deliver Venture Talent services to select IO Venture Path clients.
• Develop and execute a plan to connect high-potential/high-growth tech ventures with top leadership and executive talent, sourcing locally and beyond Ottawa.
• Develop innovative acquisition strategies tailored to startups and scale-ups, going beyond traditional job boards.
• Proactively source top leadership and executive talent through diverse channels, including targeted recruitment, outreach, and pipeline development.
• Create tailored recruitment campaigns for client ventures.
• Guide clients in crafting compelling employer branding, effective talent strategies, and competitive compensation packages.
• Develop and deliver workshops, training, and online resources to empower founders/CEOs and talent teams with best talent attraction, assessment, and onboarding practices.
• Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders in Ottawa's tech community: founders, CEOs,
talent professionals, educational institutions, and ecosystem partners.
• Collaborate with Invest Ottawa's Global Talent Attraction team on international talent attraction and sourcing initiatives.
• Oversee online platforms (job boards, ATS) focused on the Ottawa tech sector.
• Track, measure, and report key talent acquisition metrics.
• Stay updated on tech sector talent acquisition trends and best practices.

WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:

• 5+ years of talent acquisition or related experience, preferably in the tech industry, showcasing success in candidate generation and recruitment.
• A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Relations, or another relevant field (or equivalent experience).
• A passion for the Ottawa tech ecosystem and a desire to see it thrive.
• Deep understanding of talent challenges faced by startups and scale-ups.
• Proven track record in building and managing talent pipelines and executing strategic talent acquisition plans.
• Familiarity with current compensation and benefits trends in the tech sector.
• Exceptional client service focus and commitment to excellence.
• Self-driven, able to manage priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Display assertiveness, confidence, adaptability, and the ability to excel under pressure.
• Excellent communication (written/verbal/presentation), interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics) and/or familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) is advantageous.
• Experience in the tech industry or leadership/management roles is a plus
