THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Finance & Accounting Manager, this is an in office position which is responsible for full cycle accounting. The day-to-day tasks would include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations of projects under development and in construction
  • Assist in financial statement preparation, analysis and reports
  • Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Assist with budget preparation process and updating monthly forecasts, prepare variance analysis
  • Participate in identifying and preventing discrepancies, and ensuring integrity of the GL
  • File all returns (GST, etc.) on a timely basis.
  • Process period end, including journal entries and bank reconciliations
  • Assist in year-end review engagements
  • Assist in continuous improvement activities, from idea generation to implementation

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Required experience/qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-4 years previous accounting experience.
  • Accounting related diploma or degree.
  • Experience in construction considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to those without a financial background.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office 365 and advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience with Acumatica considered a strong asset.
  • Adaptability in the face of change and willingness to learn.
  • Overtime may be required periodically.
  • Satisfactory background (criminal record and credit) check.
